I was so so so looking forward to this day when i can finally perform my favourite hobby, cycling! Kudos to Aline for informing me and
Shu Yu regarding this annual bike rally event. Although i ran out of breath so many times, felt like quitting so so many times, wanted to just dump the bike on the roadside and just walk up the never ending steep slope so so so many times, we manage to finish it together!! Thanks to Aline and
Shu Yu's motivating words and the encouraging prospects of bananas, Gardenia
Rasins bun and drinks to be consumed at each checkpoint.
It was a 85km biking journey from
NTU to
Sungei Budat(
hmm.. is it spelt like this??) to K
ranji to
Chua Chu Kang Farms and
cemetry to
Yishun Stadium to
Sembawang to
Hougang to
Pasir Ris to
Changi Beach then riding along the length of
Changi Airport then finally to our finishing line at East Coast Park.
It have been an
exhilarating journey, which made me realise these:
1) Singapore indeed have extremely beautiful
scenery especially those near the farms and (ahem) the
cemeteries which makes it extremely enjoyable to bike along.
2) You can be standing at one line where it is raining cats and dogs at one side and extremely sunny on the other.
3) the length
Changi Airport is so long! When we started biking along it, I couldn't even see the end. It is an extremely scary prospect considering that your butt is already hurting and you are panting from all the 7o km++ biking.
4) Do not panic. And a good example is me crushing into a roadside bush, leaving my left arm and leg badly scratched by the branches when all I was asked to do was to stop by the roadside by the organisers. Maybe this was a self fulfilled prophecy like what
Shu Y
u said as I was already expecting myself to be injured in this bike rally.
Do not enter anything with a negative mindset. Whatever negative thing that turns out, may just be that of a self-fulfilled prophecy.
